Navy Searches For Missing Plane
The search is on for fliers who were on board a Navy jet that disappeared yesterday shortly after it took off from, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The plane was en route to the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida. On board were a Navy instructor, a civilian contract pilot and two student fliers: one from the Navy, one from the Air Force.
The T-39 Sabreliner is the military equivalent of an executive jet and is used to train crews for the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and foreign military services. The Navy declines to say where authorities are searching and whether the plane carried distress or locator beacons.
