DC’s Barry Failed Cocaine Test
D.C. Council member and former mayor Marion Barry tested positive for cocaine use in a drug test ordered by a federal court, The Washington Post said.
The test was ordered in the fall after Barry pleaded guilty to misdemeanor tax charges of failing to file for six years, sources told the newspaper.
The failed test means the 69-year-old could be sentenced on Feb. 8 to 18 months behind bars, rather than probation, the newspaper said Wednesday.
Court records show U.S. Magistrate Judge Deborah Robinson has not revoked Barry‘s bond or ordered him jailed pending sentencing, as she could have because of the drug infraction.
