A second person has been charged with attempting to help a serial rape suspect after his escape from jail, police said.

Antonio Discua, 53, apparently planned to give Reynaldo E. Rapalo money and provide him with transportation, authorities said. He was arrested Wednesday, one day after a woman was arrested for assisting Rapalo.

Alejandra Carvajal, 45, of Miami, was arrested Tuesday for bringing Rapalo food, money and clothing to his hiding place in southwest Miami, said Miami-Dade Detective Mary Walters.

Both Discua and Carvajal were charged with accessory after that fact to capital sexual battery.

Rapalo escaped from jail Dec. 20 by prying open a ceiling vent, cutting through bars and rappelling down the side of the building using tied-up bed sheets.
