A small plane crashed into a field, killing all three people aboard, officials said Thursday.

The wreckage was spotted by a utility worker shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday about a mile south of the Millard Airport. Dense fog blanketed the area at the time.

Three people were on board the Piper 28, a single-engine airplane, and there were no survivors, said Don Hughes, manager of the ‘s Omaha terminal approach control.

It was unclear whether the plane crashed late Wednesday or early Thursday, he said.

“If the pilot never talked to anybody, and never called us on radar or anything, we would have no idea” what happened, Hughes said.
