Saddam’s defense team grows
Saddam Hussein has added three more Arab attorneys to his defense team. The former Iraqi dictator now has seven men defending him on charges of killing scores of Shiite Muslims after a 1982 attempt on his life.
One of the new lawyers says he decided to join Saddam’s defense to protest the occupation of Iraq. He says “it is illegal and has no international consensus.”
Hundreds of lawyers from around the world have volunteered to defend Saddam. Most of them are from Arab countries. Saddam’s trial is set to resume January 24th.
