Online Retailing Booming During Transport Strike
Online retailing has vastly increased in the wake of a transport strike in New York City. The city’s bus and subway networks have been completely shut down by industrial action since Wednesday, costing hundreds of millions of dollars in lost store revenue in the final run-up to Christmas.
But some online retailers who have waived shipping costs are experiencing a huge upturn in festive sales, as New Yorkers turned to online shops.
