Another County Drops Diebold
Polk County Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards will recommend to the County Commission today that it buy voting equipment for the visually handicapped from Election Systems & Software, ES&S, a competitor to its current vendor.
It will mean dropping Diebold Corp. as the county’s election equipment supplier.
But Edwards said her recommendation is not because of dissatisfaction with Diebold Corp., which supplies all of the optical scan equipment and voting tables for Polk County.
Recent tests in which Diebold voting tabulators were intentionally hacked and vote totals altered were based on scenarios that wouldn’t happen here because of safeguards that are in place, she said.
