The U.S. Coast Guard is assisting in the search for a Canadian woman who may have fallen overboard from a cruise ship off the Bahamas. A search of Royal Caribbean’s “Jewel of the Seas” failed to turn up any sign of the 59-year-old woman.

The search has focused on area about 25 miles northeast of Nassau. That’s where the ship was when the woman was reported missing. Beaches and shorelines also have been searched. But a Coast Guard spokesman says finding someone in the ocean is “one of the hardest things the Coast Guard has to do.”

The cruise ship arrived Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
