Bachelet leads Chile polls
Michelle Bachelet appears ready to become Chile‘s first woman president, as she has taken a lead in the votes counted in the country’s presidential election.
However, Bachelet is unlikely to get the 50 per cent or more votes required to be declared an outright winner, and may have to face her nearest challenger in a run-off scheduled for January.
Two right-wing candidates, Sebastian Pinera and Joaquin Lavin, have been vying for the vital second spot.
