Onassis Heir to Wed in Brazil
One of the world’s wealthiest women is getting married in Brazil in what’s being called the wedding of the decade. Greek billionairess Athina Roussel Onassis, 20, will exchange vows with Brazil’s Olympic horse-riding champion, Alvaro Alfonso de Miranda, who is 32.
Tight security will surround the lavish ceremony in the gardens of an art museum in the city of Sao Paulo.
Ms Onassis, whose fortune is estimated at about $2.7bn, met her future husband at a riding academy in Belgium in 2002.
She is a granddaughter and sole heiress of the late Greek shipping tycoon, Aristotle Onassis.
