Ancient Crocodile Found
Researchers have found evidence of a new species of ancient crocodile that was one of the most fearsome predators in the oceans. The jagged four-inch long teeth and massive jaws of the Dakosaurus andiniensis have earned it the nickname Godzilla from the team that found the fossils in Patagonia, Argentina.
The huge dinosaur had a snout like a Tyrannosaurus Rex and unlike today’s crocodiles it had fins instead of legs. Dakosaurus andiniensis lived 135 million years ago, towards the end of the Jurassic period, and it would have been one of the largest and strongest marine dinosaurs of the time.
The 13-foot long dinosaur was discovered by palaeontologists Zulma Gasparini and Luis Spalletti of the National University of La Plata in Argentina.
