As Little Green Footballs mentions, the French riots are still going on, but strangely the news coverage seems to have been shut off, even though 500 cars were burned last night. I suppose that once you can’t cap the previous nights’ car burning, it ceases to become news fodder?

They point out that Canada.com still contains one of the few reports about the continuing rioting. They do have a good link and part of an article from the Village Voice, pointing out the French bourgeousie’s detachment (they put “intellectual” in, but I can’t bring myself to do that) from what is happening. Good point.

The Brussels Journal has also found this point to be interesting, and in fact their article is entitled “Censorhip as a state collapses“. As they put it:

It is understandable that countries like France, where the state is no longer able to protect the property and safety of its taxpaying citizens, want to conceal this awful fact from those very citizens. There is no law and order in a country where for two whole weeks the authorities have been unable to stop widespread rioting. Now all they can think of doing is to preserve a semblance of normality by putting the press under pressure not to write about the vandalism.
