Washington Post – Monday, October 17, 2005; Page A08:

On Nov. 8, Virginians will pick their next governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general and choose the 100 members of the House of Delegates. New Jersey is the only other state with major elections this year.

Republicans are hoping to win back complete control of Virginia’s state government. They lost the governorship when Mark R. Warner (D) won the race to succeed Republican James S. Gilmore III in 2001.

Democratic Candidate: Timothy M. Kaine
Republican Candidate: Jerry W. Kilgore
