Romania Reports Bird Flu Cases
Romania has reported new cases of bird flu in the Danube delta, after three birds tested positive for the Bird Flu virus.
Authorities will now cull hundreds of birds in an attempt to stop the disease – a strain of which can be dangerous to humans – from spreading
Fears of bird flu spreading into Europe grew on Friday, when Romania reported its first cases.
“We have killed 220 (domestic) birds so far in Ceamurlia de Jos, where the first cases occured,” the country’s chief veterinarian, Ion Agafitei, said. “The process is ongoing and will continue.”
