On October 1, Pablo Santiago and Edgardo Rivera were the first couple to be legally “partnered for life” in the state of . The other two states which have allowed same-sex unions are Vermont and Massachusetts, but the state supreme courts forced them to change their laws. Connecticut had 7,386 households with same-sex couples in the 2000 Census.
