Poland votes Conservative
In the first national vote since they joined the EU last year, Poland leaned to the right Sunday as exit polls put two conservative parties in firm control of Parliament.
The conservative Law and Justice (PiS) won 28% of the vote, with the Liberal Civic Platform (PO) winning 26%, according to exit polls released on Sunday night (Saturday night in the US).
“Everything indicates that we have won, but this is only the beginning,” said PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski, who could become Poland’s next prime minister.
