9/11 Families Take Back Ground Zero
The footprint of the World Trade Center is hallowed ground to the New York Fire and Police Departments and especially the families who lost loved ones on that horrible September day. When Debra Burlingame, the sister of Charles F. “Chic” Burlingame III, pilot of American Airlines fight 77, blew the whistle on the International Freedom Center, millions of Americans were shocked and outraged that anyone would have the audacity to erect a monument that essentially blames America for 9/11. It is absolutely clear that ideological statements have no place in any monument which honors thousands of people who were murdered in cold blood.
Through the efforts of TakeBackTheMemorial.com, 9/11 families, the New York Police Department, the New York Fire Department, thousands of bloggers, Governor George Pataki, and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, it is quite apparent that the International Freedom Center, which refused to alter its plans, is about to be kicked out of Ground Zero.
WASHINGTON – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton yesterday dealt a crushing blow to the International Freedom Center planned for Ground Zero, saying she wants the project canned for failing to listen to the 9/11 families.
“I cannot support the IFC,†Clinton declared last night in a strongly worded statement in response to an inquiry from The Post.
It will be some time before we know what will replace the IFC, but one thing is for sure, 9/11 families will not tolerate any political statements from any party or organization at ground zero.
