John Kerry is the latest in a line of Democrats who are using Hurricane Katrina to raise funds. While many people consider this behavior to be unethical, Democrats don’t seem to have a problem using hurricane victims to fill their campaign coffers.

In a speech at Brown University, John Kerry blasted the Bush administration and then quickly turned around and used excerpts from it in a fundraising e-mail to his supporters. Senator Kerry is joined by Senate Democrat Charles “Chuck” Schumer who used the same tactic to raise funds for his war chest.

So far no Republicans have used Katrina for fund raising.

While many Democrats seem to think President Bush is the only one to blame, evidence clearly shows that Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, a Democrat, ignored requests by the Bush Administration to militarize the evacuation before Katrina struck. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (who is also a Democrat) also ignored evacuation plans and left city transit and school buses in their respective lots which were flooded. Estimates show that the entire city could have easily been evacuated if those buses and National Guard vehicles had been used.

While both parties have pointed the finger at the other, only Democrats have used this disaster to raise funds.
