N. Korea Accepts Nuclear Inspections
In a turnaround from the stance in recent years, N. Korea said it would accept joint management and inspections of a light-water reactor. It also said however that it would stand firm on its demand for nuclear energy.
This is an encouraging sign from N. Korea who have been stalling the six-party talks in Beijing for many months. They are insistent however that they have a right to pursue nuclear energy.
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said he had “good” discussions with the North’s chief delegate, Kim Kye Gwan.
