Laptop Discount Causes Stampede
The Henrico County School System in Richmond Virginia announced they would be selling 1000 used I-Book Laptops today for $50 each, and over 5000 people showed up as early as 1 a.m. to stand in line to buy them. Before long people were fighting in line, and when the gates opened at 7 a.m. there was a mad rush to get in the door, causing 5,500-person stampede.
One little girl’s stroller was crushed, an elderly man was thrown to the ground, and 17 people were injured. No arrests were made.
