No Gold Today
South Africa is known for many things – Apartheid is one of the worst, but gold and diamonds are the most famous. The country seems to be full of them. That’s why it is a big deal when 100,000 gold miners strike! The management offers 5%-6% but the miners say this does not take into account the price of gold (which is rising – see here), they want 12%. So far this is costing them $12 million a day (SA produces 15% of the world’s bullion). That’s a tidy little sum to be losing!
