Bush Nominates Roberts
Judge Roberts is definately a conservative choice for Bush, a signal that a more conservative right-wing approach is wanted. There are worries from the Democrats of course, that this nomination would push SCOTUS to the right on issues such as abortion rights or other polemic subjects.
There is no doubt that Judge Roberts has suitable credentials for the job, although he has only been a Judge since 2002 (nominated by Bush no less). But he has considerable experience arguing cases before SCOTUS, which plays in his favor.
