For the past few weeks, all the news stations around the nation have been talking about Live8. A music festival with some of the biggest names in music today performing for a good cause. Well, for 6 of the last 7 years, I have personally been attending a music festival aimed at a higher cause, a greater cause. Mainly, saving the souls of the lost. What I am referring to is Creation. A Christian music festival that has been an annual event since 1979. Every year, people from Canada all the way to Florida come to attend the Creation East festival, held in Mt. Union, PA, at the Agape Farm. There is also a newly started Creation West festival held in Washington state. The biggest names in Christian Rock, Pop, R&B, Rap, and every other type of music come together to glorify God. These aren’t just names you wouldn’t know either. Bands like Switchfoot, MercyMe, and Relient K (On tour with Good Charlotte and Simple Plan) played this year. But is it any surprise that this past year was the first in my memory that any news organization has taken notice? Fox News aired a small clip of the goings on every hour on their news updates. They plan to come back next year to do a bigger piece. I say it’s about time Creation got some coverage. Every year close to 100,000 people attend, and for 26 years, they were ignored. Live 8 is around for one year, for one cause, and it’s everywhere. This year, 2,145 kids were given a chance by the support of people at Creation through Compassion. Finally someone had the courage to decide to cover a *gasp* Christian event. Maybe if some other news channels take note, we can take the violence off the TV for a few minutes, and put something positive on. Visit the Creation Festival Website.
