Chirac Mocks British Food
And once more unto the ill-timed pun, dear frenchies…
Seems like they have a knack of raising the heckles of anyone they please. The French President, Mr. Chirac, told an off-colour joke about British cooking, which might lead to Paris NOT getting the Olympic bid (he said they were second behind Finnish cooking, and there are two Finns on the Olympic Council).
The president, chatting to the German and Russian leaders in a Russian cafe, said: “The only thing [the British] have ever given European farming is mad cow.”
But I guess it’s okay that the European Union pays French farmers huge amounts of $$$ in subsidies? Nice and inequitous.
